West Saint Paul has been described as an “up-and-coming†neighborhood by some real estate agents lately, and for good reason. Located in between South Saint Paul and Mendota Heights, directly south of Saint Paul, West Saint Paul features a small-town feel close to downtown.
Robert Street cuts a north-south swath of recent economic development to this quickly revitalizing area. Featuring a recently opened Starbucks and Wal-Mart, a recently remodeled Target SuperCenter and Menards, Robert Street will play host to many new businesses in the near future. The Rainbow Foods is in the process of being remodeled, and a Lowe’s, Franks Nursery and Crafts, and there are talks in the works of a Kohl’s location as well.
West Saint Paul features real estate that is low-cost, considering its proximity to downtown. From almost anywhere in the city, you are close to, not only the Robert Street bridge into Saint Paul, but the Smith Avenue bridge, which offers a spectacular view of downtown.
Just west of the city is the Big Rivers Regional Trail, a great biking, rollerblading, and walking/running trail that runs alongside the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers. More info here.
Just up the hill from the Big Rivers trail is Cherokee park, which features some great views of the downtown and the rivers below, and a wildlife hiking trail that leads you down the hill into the river valley.
Thompson Park is located on the east side of the city, and features more hiking trails along Thompson Lake, and shelters for picnics.
West Saint Paul is also surrounded by golf courses, including the Somerset Country Club, the Mendakota Country Club, the Southview Country Club, and a great Par 3 Golf Course in Mendota Heights just west of West Saint Paul.
West Saint Paul is located near to many highways, making commuting to almost anywhere accessible. Highway 494 runs along the southern border of this city, while Highway 52 is located on the east side of the city, and 35E is minutes west of West Saint Paul.
West Saint Paul features quiet neighborhoods, affordable home prices, and a close proximity to both downtowns to great schools nearby. Contact us to find out more about this great Twin Cities suburb.
